Project II

Resources for families and children experiencing emotional stress and anxiety

Anxiety is the most common mental-health challenge children face — and the most treatable, especially when the adults around them know what to look for. Project II puts that knowledge directly into the hands of parents, caregivers and educators. Free.

What we do

Partnering with facilitator Julie-Anne Richards, the foundation delivers free presentations on childhood anxiety to school communities across Vancouver Island. Sessions give parents and educators practical, evidence-informed tools they can use the same evening — how anxiety shows up in children, how to talk about it, and how to help a child build coping skills that last.

Where we’ve been — and where you’ll find us next — is on our events page. Recent series have included:

  • École Cobble Hill, Cobble Hill
  • Cinnabar Valley Elementary, Nanaimo
  • Queneesh Elementary, Courtenay
  • Maple Bay Elementary, Duncan
  • Frank Hobbs Elementary, Victoria
  • Cowichan Valley Open Learning
  • Island schools and online Zoom sessions, 2016–2024

Who it’s for

  • Parents and caregivers who see worry, avoidance, stomach-aches, sleep trouble or meltdowns, and want a plan.
  • Educators and school staff who support anxious children through the school day.
  • Community groups — PACs, daycares, youth organizations — that serve Island families.

Resources for families

Alongside the presentations we maintain a curated set of books, programs and tools for childhood anxiety — from anxietyUK’s self-help library to Confident Parents, Confident Kids and the Institute of Child Psychology. Browse them on our Read page.

Board members behind Project II

Project II is guided by the foundation’s board — parents and professionals volunteering their time so no family pays for this education.
